The Lucky One Review

Mark and Kristian were fully prepared for what they were getting into when they saw “The Lucky One”, the latest film adapted from a Nicholas Sparks novel…a love story filled with romance, heartbreak, and some luck (duh). The author who made the ladies weep with “The Notebook” goes for the heartstrings yet again, and the Schmoes came ready (Kristian with popcorn, Mark with Kleenex).

One of the biggest surprises surrounding this event is that Kristian has seen “The Notebook” multiple times (well, he is married), and Mark is a huge fan of romantic flicks (single dudes need to believe in something, right?). So while you may assume the Schmoes aren’t the demographic for “The Lucky One”, these lads are more than capable of investing in a good love story.

After a Marine is discharged and finds himself struggling to find his way once back home, he sets out on a journey to find someone else: the woman in a picture he found overseas…the mysterious photograph always brought him luck, maybe the blonde in the pic can bring him something more. Their paths cross, and what waits for them at the junction is also her family troubles and his past. While Zac Efron attempts to separate himself from his “High School Musical” days, author Nicholas Sparks embraces his role as the tear-jerking writer the fairer sex adores. The story that ensues has no shortage of drama, romance and emotion…but would it resonate with audiences? Take a look and see what the Schmoes have to say…no tissues required!
