Schmoes Know Exclusive: GHOSTBUSTER 3 Update! Emma Stone Out, Jonah Hill Still Deciding!

Ghostbusters-3

Greetings Schmoeville!

The Phantom is back with an update on everyone’s favorite paranormal comedy franchise GHOSTBUSTERS III! Did I say everyone? I mean, Dan Aykroyd’s favorite franchise.

Caption not needed. Except that he’s obviously drunk.

Anywho, looks like the story we reported a while back looks to be true. As we said, Emma Stone and Jonah Hill were both up for the parts of  Anna and Jeremy respectively. Now comes word that Emma Stone has in fact, passed on the project.

Said The Phantom:

Emma Stone is passing on “Anna” but Jonah Hill still has an offer out for “Jeremy”.  Interesting enough, Sony wants two big stars signed on or they will not green light the picture.

Okay, so aside from the news that Emma Stone is out and Jonah Hill is still pending, the real news to me is the fact that if Sony doesn’t secure two big names for the project they will not green light the picture. This makes sense… I mean, aside from the brand name of GHOSTBUSTERS to carry the film, and because Bill Murray wants no part of it, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis and Ernie Hudson will not open a movie well. That’s just a Hollywood fact. So why not get Jonah Hill and Emma Stone to open it for them?

There’s still no word on who Anna and Jeremy is, whether they are the daughter/son of an original Ghostbuster or if they are new recruits to the company. That news will come in time, story-wise. Right now it’s clear that Sony wants to cast some tried and true young talent to help boost the box office numbers for this third entry in this series.

And with that, Dan Aykroyd waits behind his computer IM’ing the suits at Sony hoping for a green light. We will keep you posted as soon as we hear more.

And if you want my opinion (shut up, you do…) I think they should scrap it altogether. I’m sorry but there’s just no Ghostbusters in my mind without Bill Murray. You can add Emma Stone, Jonah Hill or even say, Seth Rogen or Paul Rudd or any other Apatow graduate but without Bill Murray, the movie has no heart or purpose. And after he dissed the script by shredding it and sending it back to Aykroyd and Ramis it doesn’t give me much hope that the project is even ready for a green light.

But that’s just my humble opinion. What do you think Schmoeville? Were you hoping Emma Stone wouldn’t be afraid of no ghosts? Are you patiently waiting for Ghostbusters III? Or are you like me and think the project should be left alone? Sound off with your thoughts and we’ll get to the bottom of this.
